Have you experienced…

Anxiety, restlessness, rumination, irritability, distractibility, difficulty sleeping, chronic pain, fatigue, hyperactivity, difficulty with concentration, anger, sadness, problems completing tasks, or just desire overall better brain function and flexibility?
What is LENS Neurofeedback?
The LENS, or Low Energy Neurofeedback System is a unique form of neurotherapy that monitors brainwaves in real time and then sends a small mirror signal of your own unique EEG signals back to your brain. This small interruption shows your brain what it just did, and then encourages your brain to reset and do what it does naturally which is to find balance! Sessions are typically quick, painless, and individuals can see improvement in as little as 1-2 sessions.

What to expect.
We’ll book your first LENS session for an hour which will give us time to go over your intake paperwork, assess your goals, and even begin treatment that day. Small electrodes will be placed on specific sites on the head and treatment received can last anywhere from 2 seconds to a few minutes depending on the individuals sensitivity and reactivity. We’ll also use infrared light therapy to help with any inflammation in the body to help with pain, tension, or muscle healing. LENS is designed to help re-regulate dysfunction in the brain. As existing pathways are cleared and new pathways formed and solidified, you’ll find that the gains you make with LENS Neurofeedback last forever!
How does it work?
When we experience stress, trauma, concussions, stroke, TBI’s, depression, or ADHD, the brain naturally forms connections to help us cope. Sometimes the neural connections we make on our own may help us to avoid difficult situations but can end up hurting us in the long run. Perhaps we learn how to cope by avoidance, always feel like we’re in fight or flight, or just shut down emotionally in order to avoid difficult feelings. Traditional talk therapy can help us to understand these patterns we’ve created out of necessity, help us realize there may be better ways to cope, and create new neural pathways that we strengthen by using coping skills and lifestyle changes. With LENS Neurofeedback, we’re working to clear the existing pathways that our brain has already been using to cope but it can help us feel less reactive to the stress and trauma we’ve experienced. This makes LENS the perfect adjunct to talk therapy as it can make the talk therapy process easier to navigate!

Investment.
Neurofeedback is traditionally not covered by commercial or individual insurance plans. I sometimes suggest clients contact their insurer to see if neurofeedback is covered under their mental health coverage. If so, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
One Hour Intake - $150
45 Minute Follow up - $100
What Underlying Concerns does LENS Neurofeedback Support?
|
Symptoms associated with ADHD/ADD
Cognition - Problems sequencing, memory, providing and maintaining attention, concentration, clarity and organization.
Mood - Anger, sadness, explosiveness.
Motor - Lack of grace, problems of eye-hand coordination, balance, increased muscle tone (from spasticity) and tremor.
Motivation - Problems initiating tasks, shifting from one activity to another, and/or completing tasks.
Anxiety - Problems of anxiety system activity (too much uncomfortably-contained energy), persistent "anxiety", restlessness, rumination, agitation, distractibility, difficulty breathing, palpitations, tremor exacerbation, and sleep interruption.
Reactivity - Hyper-reactivity, hypersensitivity, multiple chemical sensitivities.
Pain - Brain-generated pain (mismapping the origins and qualities of signals), and vascular pain.
Addictions/Dependencies - Lack of clarity about emotions and self-comforting, defensiveness, argumentativeness and cynicism.
Fatigue - Fatigue; or fatigue as a phenomenon secondary to the effort of trying to overcome the pain and/or the above impediment to functioning more easily.
Performance Optimization - Increases in functioning in the above areas in absence of any diagnosis.
